Paying homage to Hawaiian quilting and its history. Hawaiians were introduced to quilting by the first missionaries who arrived in the islands in the early 1820's. Hawaiian women were taught to sew and soon created their own designs and patches depicting native plants and flowers.
This Ulu pattern represents growth, abundance and prosperity. Many stories have shared that the ulu pattern made the very first Hawaiian quilt.
